Llevaba ya tiempo sin actualizar. Ya se sabe, las vacaciones, la familia, la pereza, y tal.
La verdad es que tampoco tengo nada que contar, simplemente desear felices fiestas y feliz entrada al año 2011; que disfrutéis y descanséis, que os traigan regalos y esas cositas.

Y hablando de regalos, yo he tenido el placer de auto obsequiarme con una buena obra literaria de gran repercusión artística: Old Possum's book of Practical Cats, de T.S.ELIOT. En español, "El viejo libro de los gatos habilidosos del viejo Possum (queda mejor en inglés). Es un libro de poesía muy entretenido, humorístico, cuyos poemas tratan única y exclusivamente de gatos, gatos que imitan tipos humanos o literarios. La gran repercusión es que estos poemas son los que posteriormente se tomaron para realizar el musical CATS. Es un detalle interesante.

Os dejo con mi poema favorito, The naming of cats. Porsupuestamente, lo pongo en inglés, ya que en español se pierde un poco el ritmo. Además, sé que los pocos no-lectores que me leen saben suficiente inglés como para entenderlo.


The naming of cats it's a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of our holliday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such a Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such a Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Baily-
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for gentlemen, some for the dames,
Such a Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter-
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat need's a name that´s particular,
A name that´s peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum
Such a Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such a Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum-
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that it's the name that you never will guess:
The name that no human research can discover-
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profund metitation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
